Bio

Actress Jane Mowder

With her unique sense of humor and a broad range of colorful characters, Jane Mowder has established herself as a versatile character actress in stage, film and a little television.

An interest in acting didn't come to her until after high school and college. Her high school days were spent playing sports and studying, and time in college was spent pursuing her degree in pharmacy from Ohio Northern University.
After re-establishing herself in Central Ohio in a full time pharmacy position, Jane decided acting might be a good hobby to spice things up. She began treading the boards at her local community theatre.

She got her start doing theatrical productions with the Westerville Curtain Players appearing in THE NERD, TWIGS and WALLY'S CAFE. She eventually found her way onto the stage of The Contemporary American Theatre Company (CATCO), the Columbus based semi-professional theatre group. Jane appeared in MARVIN'S ROOM, ALL IN THE TIMING and THE GRAPES OF WRATH.

Her theatrical ties lead her to the Columbus talent agency, CAM TALENT, for commercial work. Through CAM, Jane met Pittsburgh Casting Director Donna Belajac, who was instrumental in casting her as Professor Julia Knight in the 2008 Miramax film SMART PEOPLE, directed by Noam Murro and starring Dennis Quaid, Sarah Jessica Parker and Ellen Page. Other feature film roles were a detective in the 2003 film ARTWORKS (with Virginia Madsen) and a small role in the 2002 indie film BLUE CAR.

Jane has also appeared in several independent films including MINUS ONE and the political satire ASS AND THE ELEPHANT.

Her television work includes roles in, not one, but two UNSOLVED MYSTERIES and, most recently, in a guest role as a half-crazed marriage counselor in the upcoming web pilot, TWO DOORS DOWN.

Jane is a member of both SAG and AFTRA and can parallel park on the first try!
